Textile Roadshow, Moscow

The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India is organizing a mega international event ‘Textiles India – 2017’, from 30th June 2017 to 2nd July 2017 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. The event will, for the first time, mark the positioning of an annual textile trade event in the country on the annual calendar of global trade events. The event will provide an excellent platform for B2B interactions and for exploring investments and technological tie- ups.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Mr.Narendra Modi will inaugurate this mega event on the 30th of June 2017.

A Textile Road show took place at Ritz Carlton Hotel, Moscow, Russia as a precursor event to the Textile India 2017. It brought together entrepreneurs, industrialists and government representatives from both India and Russia.

Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of the Republic of India to the Russian Federation addressed those present with regard to the history, current status and the prospects of the Indian textile industry as well as the cooperation with Russian peers.

From the Russian side the Chief guest was Mr. Evgeniy BorisovichDridze, Deputy Head of Department for ExternalEconomic and International relations, Moscow City Government. According to him Russian Textile sector players sometimes fail to demonstrate sufficient level of interest in cooperation with their Indian colleagues and events like this are an opportunity to bridge this gap.

The Indian Delegation to the event was headed by Mr. A. Madhukumar Reddy, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles of the Government of India also addressed the audience on the prospects of collaborating with India and the forthcoming “Textiles India 2017” exhibition.

The Road Show was also attended by Mr. Suren Vardanyan- Vice-President (Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry) , Mr. ShamkhalAdamovichIldarov, President (Russian Association of Textile Producers), Mr. Siddh Nath Singh, Carpet Export Promotion Council and representatives of Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

This event has a special significance as it is the 70th anniversary year of the of diplomatic relations between India and Russia and it is believed that it signals the beginning of renewed cooperation between India and Russia in the textile sector.
